NEW FOR 2021: Resort guests will no longer receive a complimentary Magic Band. You can Purchase a Magic Band at a discount for your vacation. A lot of the features of the Magic Band can be done directly through your My Disney Experience App. You can also request a complimentary Key to World Card.

MagicBands are wearable technology, they are your key to the magic at Walt Disney World. MagicBands are waterproof (great for a day at the waterparks) and embed with RFID chips. This technology allows your band works as your park tickets, room key, fastpass+ reservations, your credit card and more.

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort during your vacation you will get a MagicBand for free with your package. You get to customize a band for each member of your travelling party. You pick the color, color choices are pink, orange, green, red, blue, yellow, purple, and grey and printed on the back side of your magic band is the name or nickname of the person the band belongs to.

If you are not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort but would still like to have a MagicBand these can be purchased at most stores on the Walt Disney World property or before your trip at Disneystore.com. You can choose a basic solid color band or you can choose a band with your favorite character on it. Prices vary depending on your choice.

MagicBands work like your park tickets. As you enter the park you will tap your band at the reader at the park entrance and do a finger scan. This is quick and easy (unless you forget what finger you used for the fingerprint scanner on the first day of your vacation.)

Your MagicBand will also work for your fastpass+ reservations at attractions. Before your vacation (60 days from check in for on site resort guests and 30 days before your vacation for off site guests) you can select up to 3 attractions to make reservations for. These reservations then let you bypass the regular lines. With your MagicBand you will tap your band at then fastpass+ ride entrance, it will light up green if you have arrived at the right time and you are able to wait in a much shorter line to ride rides. If you do not have a MagicBand your park ticket can be tapped and acts the same way a magic band would.

As a Walt Disney World resort guest your magic band works like your room key. On your door is a MagicBand reader, you just tap and unlock your door. You can also unlock your door using your MyDisneyExperience App.

Walt Disney World resorts guests can also make purchases using your MagicBand. On your MyDisneyExperience App you link a credit card. If don’t want everyone to have the ability to charge, no worries you will set up a 4 digit pin that you have to enter to be able to charge. At the register you will tap your band to the MagicBand reader enter your 4 digit pin and your are good to go. If you are on the dining plan, tell them you are using the dining plan, tap, enter your 4 digit pin and they will deduct the dining plan credits you are using.

Another great use for the MagicBand is with memory maker photographers. There are photographers stationed all over the parks that will take your picture. Then they will scan your MagicBand and your photos appear in your MyDisneyExperience App.

These are just a few of the many perks to the magicbands. They can also unlock magic on some rides, let you board the magical express at Orlando International Airport, grab ride photos to add to your MyDisneyExperience App and more.

If you lose your MagicBand no worries, guest services can assist you. They will deactivate your old band and give you a new band. If you do lose your band just know that the replacement may just be a plain grey one. If you are worried that your child’s band is too big for their wrist they can be easily made smaller by removing a tear away layer.
